Izquierda Independiente ha instado al gobierno municipal de San Sebastián de los Reyes a reconsiderar la propuesta de eliminar la Jefatura de Sección de Mujer e Igualdad, presentada recientemente por la Concejalía de Recursos Humanos ante la Junta de Gobierno.
Según argumenta Izquierda Independiente en su comunicado, la Delegación de la Mujer juega un papel crucial en la promoción de la igualdad y en la implementación de políticas activas para proteger y promover los derechos de las mujeres y la diversidad en el municipio. En este sentido, destacan la necesidad de mantener y fortalecer la Jefatura de Mujer para abordar de manera efectiva las problemáticas específicas y los desafíos en el ámbito de la igualdad de género.
El partido expresa su preocupación ante la posibilidad de que la eliminación de la Jefatura de Sección de Mujer sea una decisión política destinada a minimizar y ocultar el trabajo realizado en materia de igualdad en el municipio. Además, señalan que la propuesta de la Concejalía de Recursos Humanos reconoce la especificidad de los departamentos de Igualdad y Mayores, lo que refuerza sus inquietudes al respecto.
Juan Torres, concejal y portavoz de Izquierda Independiente, lamenta la falta de personal en la Concejalía de Igualdad y la ausencia de medidas para cubrir las vacantes existentes. Destaca que la pobreza y la precariedad social en San Sebastián de los Reyes afectan principalmente a las mujeres, según datos recogidos en la memoria de Servicios Sociales.
El partido resalta que esta decisión del gobierno municipal contrasta con los posicionamientos de las autoridades locales, especialmente considerando la participación de la alcaldesa en la Comisión de Violencia de Género de la Federación de Municipios.
En este contexto, Carmen Palacios, concejala de Izquierda Independiente, subraya la importancia de redoblar los esfuerzos en igualdad, especialmente en un momento donde se observa un aumento de actitudes machistas y agresiones hacia las mujeres. Por tanto, insta al gobierno municipal a mantener la Jefatura de Sección de Mujer y a cubrir las vacantes en este departamento para avanzar hacia una sociedad más justa e igualitaria en derechos.
